Dress Code
Uniform Dress Expectations
Student IDs MUST be visibly displayed at all times while on campus. NO EXCEPTIONS!! No writing or markings permitted on IDs.
- Shirts/Tops: Students are encouraged to wear polo-style collars, any solid color, magnet shirts, or school-approved shirts.
- Bottoms - Pants: Any solid color pants are acceptable, with the exception of white, and must be worn at the waist.
- Bottoms - Shorts, Skirts, Skorts, Jeans: Students may wear any solid color, excluding white, with the requirement that they be worn at the waist and knee-length, and must not have slits above the knee.
- Shoes: Full-coverage flat shoes are required (such as sneakers, tennis shoes, loafers, or boots).
- Winter/Outerwear: Appropriate options include turtlenecks, sweatshirts, zip-up or button-up sweaters, and jackets.
- Belts: It is necessary to wear a belt at all times with bottoms that have belt loops, positioned at the waist.
- Physical Education (P.E.) Uniform: Students should wear the approved P.E. uniform exclusively during P.E. classes.
- Roosevelt Magnet School Attire: Only approved medical scrubs are permitted for wear.
- Head Coverings: Head coverings are generally not allowed, with the exception of those worn for religious purposes.
Prohibited Items
- The following clothing items are not permitted: athletic wear (such as basketball or bicycle shorts) roll-ups, cut-offs, spandex, tight-fitting clothing, leggings, jeggings, tights, or baggy pants.
- Clothing should not expose undergarments.
- Ripped jeans exposing skin are not acceptable.
- Plain T-shirts of any color are disallowed.
- Apparel that features holes, rips, tears, slits, sleeveless styles, strapless tops, tank tops, halter tops, midriff-baring garments, see-through items, cut-outs, or tight/clingy clothing is prohibited.
- Backless shoes, high heels, sling-backs (including Crocs, peep-toes, open-toe shoes, flip-flops, sandals, slides, etc.) are not allowed, and there should be no exposure of heels or toes.
- We kindly ask that students refrain from wearing hats, caps, hoods, skullies, beanies, do-rags, bandanas, bonnets, scarves, or any other form of head covering.
- Any display of profanity, paraphernalia, offensive items, or illegal materials (such as drugs or weapons) is not tolerated.
- Students should avoid wearing large or excessive jewelry and clothing adornments/embellishments.
- Mismatched shoes are discouraged.
- Mouth grills are not permitted.
- No hoodies worn covering the head while on campus. No Exceptions!!
